Denny Hamlin put on a masterful performance from the rear of the
starting grid at Michigan International Speedway to capture his
second-straight and fourth overall NASCAR Cup Series®
victory of the season. Hamlin, driving the No. 11 National Debt Relief
Toyota Camry XSE, won the pole in qualifying, but had to start at the
rear of the field for unapproved adjustments. The
Joe Gibbs Racing driver steadily marched forward, especially in the
second half of the race, to take the lead for the final time with 39
laps remaining. Hamlin’s 63rd career win put him into a
tie for ninth on the all-time NASCAR Cup Series® wins list.
